Last nights’s 2014 BET awards proved to be a stylish affair for all those who attended and DeanZign did not disappoint on the red carpet and on stage. The looks from DeanZign showed such versatility from Missy Elliot’s custom couture white leather jumpsuit to Margaret Avery’s classic, metallic gown.
Below are pictures of Angela Dean’s designers from the BET Awards:
Missy’s jumpsuit was hand painted by doodle artist Enzo Ozne Ybarra

This was a unique collaboration of Fashion and Music.
The album cover was inspired by a photo of Frida Kahlo (pictured below) from a French Vogue shoot in the 40s. My participation in the project was to bring a modern version of the original photo to life from a fashion perspective.
Ironically, an editorial spread from the July 2013 issue of Spain Harper’s Baazar executes an almost identical concept.

Nancy Wilson “Style Maven”
Nancy Wilson, renowned as much for her stylish image as for her song stylings, has long been a supporter of education and the arts. These interests converge with her donation of two designer gowns to the Smithsonian, which operates the world’s most comprehensive set of jazz programs and its National Museum of American History—home to jazz collections that include 100,000 pages of Duke Ellington’s unpublished music and objects such as Ella Fitzgerald’s famous red dress, Dizzy Gillespie’s angled trumpet, John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” manuscript and Benny Goodman’s clarinet.
“I designed this dress for Nancy with an expression of elegance and timelessness,” explains Angela Dean, the creator of the silver-grey silk velvet wrap-dress with poet sleeves that Wilson wore to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards February 11, 2007. That day Associated Press photographs captured her arrival on the red carpet and her acceptance of the award for best jazz vocal album for “Turned To Blue.” This was Wilson’s third Grammy Award. The dress was donated to the historical Smithsonian Museum by Nancy Wilson
“This is one of the greatest highlights in my career to have a like Diva Nancy Wilson to donate one of my dresses to one of the most prestigious museums in history of America”
]]>The artist who will forever be known as Prince took the stage to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 10th annual BET Awards. ” R&B diva Patti LaBelle closed out with the classic “Purple Rain”
“I created this design in honor of Prince and his French Victorian style which he is known for .Prince has also embraced an Escortian flare to the way he dressed ,so honoring those two elements in the design was very important. The charcoal grey lace top had point details to modernize the look with a silk cigarette pencil pant that gave the ensemble a sophisticated feel.”

This type of beaded lace requires a lot of fine hand sewing because the machine is not able to sew over the beads .
More than 60 hours of crafted labor was put into this beaded french lace blouse .Thank God it’s finished !!!!!

Can Can by Paris Hilton was launched in 2007, inspired by the film Moulin Rouge. The perfume ad campaign was featured in fashion magazines all over the world.
The dress is a red silk cloud ballgown with a 4ft train that is edged with beautiful red feathers.
“This dress was a finale piece for my Paris to Hollywood Fashion Show held at the Historical Celebrity Centre in Hollywood. It was very ironic that the name of my show had the name Paris in the title. It was selected to be used for the Paris Hilton Ad Campaign. Very appropriate for the Moulin Rouge theme.”

]]>Madonna’s first Bullet Bra was created in the late 1980’s for the “Who’s That Girl Tour.” This established Madonna’s iconic style. Wearing lingere as outerwear became a fashion sensation. Very reminiscent of the 50;s lingerie worn as outerwear. This bullet bra and Madonnas daring attitude charged an era in fashion. She was able to push the envelope and not apologize for her eccentric and free style. This was the 80’s ,so fashion was at its peek of expression when it came to being free.
“When I designed the Bullet Bra Corset, I worked directly with Madonna’s stylist on creating this unique and timeless look. The idea was to take the classic 50’s bullet bra and give it a modern twist by adding gold tassles to the tips of the cups This established .an unforgettable moment.”
